Objectives:
The presentation shall highlight the role of museum in contemporary society. Museums provide non-confrontational and eclectic values for expressing ideas that are sometimes themselves controversial. They are based upon the tangible evidence of the cultural as scientific progression of humankind. Presented in an environment that encourages the viewer to learn, reflect and assimilate the World at their own space.

Mr. Sabyasachi Mukherjee has undertaken extensive modernization, including refurbishment of the museum’s main building and the establishment of a conservation center, new galleries and educational initiatives. In 2010, In recognition of his initiatives UNESCO awarded 2010 Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Mr. Mukherjee has organized numerous art exhibitions and international shows and has overseen publications, conservation projects, exchange programs and archive projects in partnership with museums worldwide.
Mr. Sabyasachi Mukherjee is also Director of the Postgraduate (Diploma) Program in Museology and Art Conservation at the CSMVS Institute, University of Mumbai.
A frequent lecturer and active member of many professional committees, more particularly, the Bizot Group (a distinguished group of American and European museum Directors). Mr. Mukherjee has been a fellow of the Nehru Trust and the Salzburg Global Seminar. He holds MA in Museology and MA in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology from Maharaja Sayajirao University. Recently, the Senatus Academicus of the University of Edinburgh has invited Mr. Mukherjee to be admitted to the degree of Doctor ‘honoris causa’ for transformation of the CSMVS Museum to a vibrant, engaged, cultural catalyst in Mumbai.
