Tata Consultancy Services, TCS as we all know it, is today one of the top IT firms in the world. Its turnover exceeds USD 14 billion and employee strength is more than 4 lakh people. For TCS, has all this been smooth sailing? Did it happen overnight? What is their secret mantra? Who did it? So many questions and curiosity never ends. To reach these heights TCS had to overcome several challenges on its way. Mr Suresh Mhatre is going to take us through the journey of TCS, tell us about the foundations laid by the legendary Dr Faquir Chand Kohli, its early years, its spectacular growth and the key turning points over the years.

Faculty Introduction: Mr Suresh Mhatre

After his Masters in Industrial & Systems Engineering, from the University of Florida, Mr Suresh Mhatre joined TCS in October 1978. Over the next 37 years in TCS, he held various key positions including Global Head of Resourcing and Head of Management Consulting. He retired in 2014 as Vice President and is now an independent Management Consultant.

Mr Suresh Mhatre has over 40 years of consulting experience in IT Strategy, Project Management, E-Governance, HR Sourcing, ERP Selection/Implementation across domains like Government, Manufacturing, Utilities, Construction and Ports. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of India. He is also a former President of the BMA.
