Bombay Management Association along with MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai is pleased to invite you to the first-ever launch of World Bank’s ‘World Development Report 2020’ on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 3:30 pm at Centrum, 1st Floor, Center 1, World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. Dr. Aaditya Mattoo, Chief Economist, East Asia and Pacific Region, World Bank, will co-led this prestigious research project. This programme is jointly organised by MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai and All India Association of Industries (AIAI) in association with the World Bank Group.
World Development Report 2020 is themed on ‘Trading for Development in the Age of Global Value Chains’. Today, 50% of world trade is driven by cross border production networks of Global Value Chains. In the last 30 years, developing countries have benefitted in terms of reduction in poverty, increase in employment and economic growth by integrating into Global Value Chains.
The objective of this programme is to generate awareness on the importance of Global Value Chains for growth and development of industry and its impact on employment and economic growth. The programme will have a panel discussion with senior officials from government, industry and trade mission who will deliberate on enhancing India’s integration into Global Value Chains.
This will be attended by representatives of trade and industry, academia, research institutions, government departments, export finance and insurance companies, among others. We are confident that the programme will generate useful insights on the emerging opportunities for India’s integration into Global Value Chains.
