INNOTHON allows students to work on real-world business challenges. It is an annual contest organised by Bombay Management Association (BMA) for its management student members.
Under this competition, a team of four to five students work as consultants to the sponsoring corporate supported by a faculty advisor and BMA-appointed industry experts. The team conducts the research including primary and secondary and presents the recommendations well as their findings to the sponsoring company’s management. Every sponsoring company crowd sources solutions from at least 3-4 teams. The best solution chosen by every sponsoring company becomes eligible for the final round of INNOTHON.
In the final round, all eligible teams showcase and present their innovative solution to a panel of jury. Jury comprises of the corporate representative and normally a practising consultant from the industry to ensure customised solution which is vetted for its quality of implantable research findings.
The winner takes home the coveted Dandekar Trophy and cash prize of Rs. 25,000/. The two runner ups will get a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/ and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

BMA engages senior independent business professional/ consultant or guide from the industry with years of expertise in the same sector as that of the sponsoring corporate. The mentor engages with all the teams working for the sponsor’s problem statement.
Distinguished faculty from participating management institutes form a part of the team working on the sponsor’s problem statement. The faculty is an expert in her/ his area of research.
The sponsoring corporate gets a chance to source talent from top management institutes. The organisations gets a chance to work with these students before the placements begin, helping in making an informed choice during recruitment. Likewise the institutes also expand their network of corporate.
The solutions presented by students in the past edition of INNOTHON were found to be innovative and implementable. What better way to crowd source solution to your business challenge from young minds and fresh perspective supported by academicians?
