BMA is making a transition to Net Zero thus making a meaningful change to measurable value

“ESG in Motion” – Launch of BMA ESG and Net Zero Initiative 2023

Introduction

Given the monumental shift in focus towards climate change and ESG, we at BMA, would like to be at the forefront of this change. “ESG in Motion” – our ESG and net zero strategy lays out our strategic priorities and actions to enable a robust ESG transition at BMA and all
our stakeholders.

ESG Strategic Pillars – Ideas to discuss:

• Zero Plastic:
o Identify sources of plastic used across office, events and seminars
o Prioritize items to be eliminated with a time-bound plan
o Dispose of responsibly, sell old plastic to recyclers
o Eliminate all plastic by end of 2024

• Full-scale Digitization:
o Build a culture of printing only when necessary
o Leverage digital learning tools to reduce paper use
o Encourage recycling of books and digital circulation of the same
o Hold classes virtually whenever possible
o Have quantifiable targets for each year

• Capacity Building for ESG:
o Solve for the skill gap in ESG work readiness
o Integrate elements of ESG in all existing BMA initiatives
o Introductory modules could be introduced in existing programs, separate
program could be rolled out for advanced learners

o A few ESG-focused programs could be:
§ ESG Journey for a Corporate
§ ESG Regulations, Ratings, and Reporting Framework
§ GHG Mapping and Carbon Footprinting

o Ideas for sustainability-driven solutions could be invited in the InnoThons

• ESG Guidance and Recognition:
o Commit to provide guidance on ESG transition to partners and corporates
o Recognize trailblazers in the ESG space through annual award function

• Promote “ESG in Motion” Initiative:
o Build on “ESG in Motion” to add memberships
o Encourage women leaders to join BMA
o Organize member meetings to promote “ESG in Motion” Initiative
